POINTS FROM THE STATE OF THE UNION 2012

Posting adapted from one by Adrienne Evans for United Vision of Idaho

·        Give tax incentives to start ups and small businesses for job creation.

·        Ban Congressional members from insider trading and investing in corporate stock that their decisions affect.

·        Extend the payroll tax cut! Not doing so will effectively hike the tax rate for 160 million Americans to the tune of $40 per paycheck, which they are not currently paying.

·        Eliminate tax deductions and loopholes for corporation that outsource. Double tax deductions for companies that make products at home and employee US workers.

·        See that millionaires no long pay 1/4 less in taxes than the average middle class household.

·        Create a $3,000 tax credit for refinancing homes (with no red tape) at historically low rate for those who have found themselves underwater and are trying to do the responsible thing.

·        Fight the economic depression and provide for troops coming home by rebuilding America's infrastructure, by making public investments in small and medium-sized businesses, and by expanding clean energy, including natural gas.

·        Add a new trade enforcement unit to ensure no foreign company gainsunfair advantage over US companies.

·        Address the issue of an unskilled, uneducated labor force by making University and Colleges keep tuition affordable, by funding community colleges for job skills training, and by requiring every student to complete High School or turn 18 leaving school.

·        Keep Good Teachers on the job, but reward the best. Stop requiring them to teach to the test and encourage them to utilize their passion and creativity in the classroom.

·        Prevent student loan interest from doubling in July.

The Canyon County Democrats are dedicated to electing Democratic candidates at all levels.  We work at identifying Democratic voters, energizing them through events and activities, and getting them out to the polls on Election Day.
